Privacy Policy
Overview
Prompted is a posing reference app for portrait photographers, published by Cooper Industries. It has no accounts, no sign-in, no advertising, and no tracking of any kind. The only thing it counts is which features get used, anonymously, and you can turn that off. Everything you do in the app — favourites, sessions, notes about which client you used a pose with — stays on your device. That includes poses you add yourself: the photograph and the prompt you write are stored in the app's own container on your phone, backed up only with your device backup, and never uploaded to us.
The short version: nothing you enter ever leaves your phone. The app downloads its pose catalog from our content server the way a browser downloads a web page, processes purchases through Apple, and sends anonymous feature counts to an analytics service unless you switch that off. That's the entire list.
What Stays on Your Device
Your favourites, saved sessions, session order, used-with-a-client history (including any client names you type), settings, and the pose catalog itself are stored locally on your device. There is no cloud sync and no server-side copy — Cooper Industries cannot see any of it.
If you export a session as a PDF contact sheet, that PDF is created on your device and goes only where you choose to share it.
Location
Prompted can use your location, with your permission, to compute the sun's position — sunrise, sunset, golden hour, and the current light — using an on-device astronomy calculation. Your coordinates are read at neighbourhood-level (kilometre) accuracy, are used only for that computation, and never leave the device. There is no geocoding, no weather lookup, and no location history. The sun tracker simply doesn't work until you grant permission, and the rest of the app is unaffected if you decline.
Network Requests
The app makes one kind of network request: plain HTTPS downloads of its pose catalog (a static file of pose data and photographs) from our content server. These requests carry no account information, no identifiers, and no cookies. As with any internet download, the server can see your IP address while serving the files. After the catalog has downloaded once, the app works fully offline.
Purchases
Prompted Pro is sold through Apple's App Store. Payment is handled entirely by Apple; we never see your payment details. To know whether your purchase is active across your devices, the app uses RevenueCat, which processes your App Store receipt under an anonymous identifier. No name, email, or other personal detail is attached to it.
Anonymous Usage Counts
To decide what to build next, Prompted counts how often features are used — for example how many times Shoot Mode was started or a contact sheet was exported. These counts are sent to TelemetryDeck, an analytics service that receives them under a one-way hashed identifier it cannot reverse. Each event carries only a feature name and, where relevant, a count, an enum value, or the app and catalog version. No names, no client names, no pose you looked at, no location, and no advertising identifier are ever included. There is no crash reporting.
You can turn this off at any time in Settings → About → Share anonymous usage. When it is off, nothing is sent.
What We Don't Do
- No crash-reporting SDKs, and no analytics beyond the anonymous feature counts described above.
- No advertising, and no advertising identifiers.
- No tracking across apps or websites.
- No selling or sharing of data — there is no data to sell.
Deleting Your Data
Because everything lives on your device, deleting the app deletes your data. Purchases are tied to your Apple Account and can be restored on any device with Restore Purchases.
Children
Prompted is a professional tool for photographers and is not directed at children.
Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this address with a new date below. A change will never quietly add tracking — the promise above is the product.
